The Bull Fight
Ok everyone, so this was a very interesting experience. From an anthropological point of view it was fascinating. To go and see a traditional bull fight in a bullring that is centuries old is exceptional, but what was even more interesting was the culture of the people who attended the fight. Much like hockey, a bullfight has its own little colloquialisms. First though let me explain what I learned because I went into the bullfight completely blind. The night before, I explained to my host family that we were going to be sitting "cerca a la lucha" (close to the fight), my host dad laughed at me. He said that we would be sitting "cerca al ruedo" (close to the bullring) because "no es una lucha" it is not a fight. Next, I asked yet another naive question: "is the bull going to die?" to which I got an amused smile and a "si hija" the bull will die. And that my friends sums up my prior knowledge to bullfights. This is a picture of the stadium
The first horse that came out, a nice little guy, not sure what purpose he and his rider actually served in the long run though.
